Datetime Values and Time Zones in Vessel Overview
Datetime Values in the User Interface
When you enter dates and datetimes in Vessel, they will show up exactly as you typed them. Starting with 2.23.0 release, the system does not automatically change these dates and times to match your computer's local time zone and user role - it will display what you originally entered.
Audit Trail "When" Values
In the audit trail, users will always see “when” values (when an action took place in Vessel) in their local time zone, regardless of their role. The UTC offset next to the timestamp reflects the local time zone of the viewer.
Reports
As of the 2.17.0 release, in the Dashboard, Clinical Listings, and Change History reports,
- Site-entered datetime values (e.g., Visit Date) surface as they were entered by the site user (no time zone change).
- Timestamps reflecting "when" an update was made in the EDC (e.g., Visit Started in EDC) surface in UTC.
This means that, no matter where in the world the report is downloaded, it will always show the same values.
Subject PDF and XML
All datetime values showing "when" an action took place in Vessel are surfaced in UTC in the subject PDF and XML, accessed via the ODM API.
All date and datetime values collected in CRFs are surfaced as entered by the site user in the subject PDF and XML (no timezone change).
SDTM
All date values are surfaced as entered by the site user in SDTM (no time zone change), except for the LASTMODI variable in every domain. Datetime values in the LASTMODI variable are in UTC.
