Treatment Cycles

Flatiron is built to handle complex and variable length treatment cycles. Each cycle can be made up of a treatment period and a rest period with all cycle visits being scheduled per the protocol's study calendar.

Terminology

  • Cycle Iteration: each cycle is made up of a Cycle Name and a sequential number we call a Cycle Iteration. So "Treatment XYZ Cycle 1" will be represented in Flatiron as "Treatment XYZ Cycle - Iteration 1".
  • Cycle Interval: the visits that occur during a cycle iteration are called Cycle Intervals (e.g., Day 1, Day 15). Each iteration may contain a different set of intervals based on the study design.

Controlling Cycle Flow

Progressing a subject through a cycle-based study design is done by adding and/or stopping iterations and selecting the appropriate next branch for a particular subject. At the bottom of the current cycle iteration, you will be presented with a choice of links to control the cycle and, once a cycle has been stopped, a dropdown list to pick the next branch.

  • Add Iteration: clicking this link will add another set of intervals for the next iteration of the current cycle.
  • Stop Cycle: clicking this link will complete the current cycle and allow the subject to move to the next protocol branch. Only click on Stop Cycle when the current cycle iteration is complete and no more iterations need to be added.  Stopping the cycle cannot be reversed.  If stop cycle has been selected mistakenly contact crsupport@flatiron.com to get it reversed.
